since the last time i posted:

  • school
  • friends
  • rehearsal
  • more school
  • winter formal (major lulz)
  • cried four times in a single movie (i don’t cry in movies!!!)

i bought expensive shoes today. i never buy expensive anything. and then i bought a dress that’s the second most expensive article of clothing i’ve ever owned (second only to a pair of jeans, of course).

so I saw Young the Giant on saturday night and they were so awesome. it turns out i’m going to get to see them again in a couple months wooo! but yeah if they ever come around where you are I’d definitely recommend getting there. so good. like ahhh. this winter break is shaping up to be a good one.

family was pissin me off so after they all left to go do something as a family (minus me) (i know, right?) I bailed and am enjoying a mocha at my favorite coffee shop.  tis the life.

Tonight was opening night of The Fantasticks at my school. Everything went so, so well, and I’m so very blessed to be cast with such wonderful people (and I get to do this five more times in the next few days!). la la laaa love you alllll

this is my life:

yesterday we had “FancyLunch,” which is a super fancy lunch at school where we all dressed up and ate fancy food and entailed my (and some others’) waking up very early to shop for food but it was so extraordinarily awesome

then I stood for six hours at a Foo Fighters show and Cage the Elephant opened and it was so so so so awesome and I still haven’t recovered from how awesome it was. like, just, what, everything so amazing oh my goodness I can’t even just ugh yes

then we went for burgers and such at 2 in the morning

today went to school to see a friend play for an open house and surprised another friend working there with a Transformers cake for his birthday

saw Hilary Duff

taught Kindergarteners at church

now wrestling with some picture files for a school magazine

the end

I think it’s time for a birthday post, as promised (a version of this has been sitting in my drafts lolwhoops)(my 17th birthday was on the 13th). yes, that is Sufjan coming out of a bowl of cookie crisps.

Let me start by saying that my birthday is normally largely forgotten.  It’s early in the school year, it’s my parents’ anniversary (I was born on their eighth anniversary, making this year their 25th, woo), and it has fallen in the middle of awful school trips twice.  Getting used to not really having a birthday mixed with not being a huge fan of parties and such has led me to not expect much for my birthday.  It was on a Tuesday this year, so that didn’t help much.

So this was basically my day:

  • Met with a coffee, two ridiculous balloons, and an enormous cupcake at my first class
  • Getting myself situated when my teacher tells me she has a present for me.  She’s giving me a box of some obscure cereal when I notice there’s a Sufjan & “prize inside!” written on the outside of the box. I open the box and there’s a CD inside, which makes me really happy and excited and yeah
  • It takes me a while to get anywhere going across campus and stuff because people are being so nice
  • I get to my next class and see a box on my chair and it’s another cereal box with another obscure cereal and another Sufjan and another CD. Happiness ensues~
  • I’m dragged out of the lunch line to go see a bunch of frosted mini brownies with candles and such an a group of people singing happy birthday and that was adorable
  • My next teacher is taking roll and hits my name and gives me another box with another CD (the one in the picture) and it was wonderful especially because that class sucks (sorry mr. z)
  • I’m walking to a meeting after that class and my friend runs over saying they have ice cream in the cafeteria-place thing and it is of the utmost importance that I go there to buy some with him right then and there and so I do because hey why not and he created a very stupid yet surprisingly natural conversation about how to say ice cream in other languages. I start to round the corner of the building and see a couple of my friends giggling and watching me walk over. I look up and see my friend up on a ledge against the wall with a bunch of balloons. And some birdseed and a dog toy attached because why not.
  • I lugged around balloons and cereal boxes and plastic toy rings that came in brownie cupcakes everywhere and it was jolly. Then it was sugar and hugs all around at the end of the day.
  • Oh and my mom got me nice headphones! It’s funny because I’m probably the person who cares most about music in this family but also is the one surviving on ipod earbuds while everyone else has top-of-the-line Bose fanciness on their ears.

The end. In short, my friends>yours. I’ve now embarked on my eighteenth year of life!

(thanks again jeremy and leland for the cereal box extravaganza because I know you will see this yay)

I have had a really busy week and I am so tired

like, my head is having difficulties staying upright

might go up to huntington today and see mgmt woooo

while in new york, I went on a quest to get the right amount of ice in my starbucks.  there was so much ice that one day I asked for light ice.  that resulted in just as much if not more ice.  ’twas ridiculous.  then, another time, I asked for “suuuper light ice, like, sooo little ice.” the guy looked at me like I was crazy but took the order anyway.  when I was waiting for my drink, the lady who calls out drinks (it was that super busy starbucks by union square that’s apparently the busiest starbucks in new york or something so all the jobs are split up and it’s actually kind of funny) says, “unsweetened green tea lemonade with…light, light, light ice” and people chuckled and i was like ~victory~ because it had about five ice cubes.  I probably could have used a bit more ice, so the quest shall continue here in california.

I’m in california again

slowly realizing how sleep deprived I was in the past few days

I apologize to the world for anything stupid I said/did

off to go deal with a rather busy week

have a nice day!
